Today’s goings-ons
While I am waiting for the coffee to brew, I figured I’d post again. The kids are still sleeping, but Tara is starting to stir. I think she is going with Alex to buy stuff for the store in a little bit. Ah, she just woke up and actually got out of bed. I am taking Jake and Erin for haircuts today. Also shopping for clothes for Jake for dress-up night on the cruise. We are all dressing in black and white for a family photo. I am taking Tara to get her Learner’s Permit too. She is 15 1/2 yrs old today. She has been diligently studying her Drivers Manual for months. Yesterday, she got her retainer and it is completely clear. She didn’t know she was getting that type and was really happy about it. Later on today, we are heading to Jenny and Jeramiah’s. I am looking forward to seeing Riley smiling a lot.
Sam should be finishing out the Softball Tournament today and heading down here tonight or tomorrow morning at the latest. We leave bright and early Monday morning for LA to start our cruise! Will post pics when we get back. Bon Voyage!!

Busy Summer
I have been super busy at work helping get the 4th floor ready to open last week. It was quite an undertaking, but things went relatively smoothly. Everyone is really liking our new home and getting settled in. Our new unit is beautiful (except for too much of some pictures and not enough of other pictures). I don’t think there’s a nicer L&D unit in the state! I am glad we are moved in and it is finished. I don’t think my feet could have taken another day of it!! Although, I am sort of closed off in the nursery and staff seems to forget I’m in there. At least there’s a bathroom though.
In other news, it seems my pesky PSVT ( an extremely fast heart rate that comes on suddenly and usually goes away suddenly) from years ago has returned. Even after the ablation! Evidently, only a small percentage (like < 5%) have a recurrence. Of course it had to happen to me. My cardiologist also told me that I have a heart murmur. I knew before he told me because I heard it myself. There’s a good chance that it was caused by all the cardio training I do at the gym. I am on medication that controls the heart rate and the murmur is very slight requiring no treatment. I can still do cardio for an hour with no problem, unfortunately.
Summer is almost over and the kids will be heading back to school on Aug. 6th. But not before we go on our cruise to Catalina Island and Ensenada, Mexico on Monday!! Our cruise lasts until Friday. We are planning on having lots of fun and swimming a lot. We are going on a glass bottom boat on Catalina Island too.
After the cruise, we are staying in the Valley for a few days to go school shopping. The kids and I are driving down tomorrow. Sam is coming either Friday evening or Saturday. He is running the Little League State Jr. Softball tournament and can’t leave until it’s over.

Enjoying Time Off
I have been enjoying my time off from work since May 25th. I don’t go back until June 17th. That’s a total of 22 days off. I don’t think I’ve been off that long since Erin was born in 1997!! I am really liking spending time with all the kids and of course with Riley. I haven’t seen Jake much since he is staying home with Sam because of baseball. We haven’t done much swimming because the water in the pool is cold because it’s only been in the 90’s during the day and 70’s at night which is unusually cool for the Phoenix area.

Welcome to Riley Shea Young
On Thursday, May 28, 2009 at 5:54 pm, we welcomed our beautiful Riley into the world!! I am so thankful that her Mommy and Daddy allowed me to be a part of this joyous moment. Jenny had a pretty rough time, but she is now home resting and on the mend. From the moment she was born, Riley has been surrounded by all the people that love her. Uncle Jake proclaimed with tears in his eyes that “she is so gorgeous”. Aunt Tara has learned to change diapers. Aunt Erin thinks she is so lucky to just be able to hold her since, in her words, “I can’t even take care of a plant.“
It is just wonderful to have a new baby in the family!!
