Alone for 4 days
Sam and the kids went on their first camping trip of the year. I am working this week, so I didn’t go obviously. Hopefully, they will get a lot of use out of the camper we bought last fall. Sam took it hunting to the North Rim right after we bought it, but that’s the only time it’s been used. It’s been packed away for the winter. I will probably go camping too at some point. I would never go before because of the tent thing and no modern conveniences. Just seemed like too much work to actually be called a vacation. Anyway, they are not too far from home. They went with another family that the kids go to school with. They plan on doing some fishing. They also brought a lot of good eats with them!
Sam has to bring Jake back into civilization on Tuesday morning for his final appointment with the orthopedic surgeon. His thumb and shoulder are doing fine. He had no problems at Little League tryouts on Saturday. His thumb is not completely aligned - you can see the difference when he holds them side-by-side. It was a really unstable fracture but the dr said it shouldn’t affect its function.
Sam and the kids come back on Thursday. I am leaving to go to the valley on Friday, probably early afternoon. Just staying for the weekend. I am hoping to see Christine on Friday at some point and Alex and I are going out to eat for his birthday.
Work has been really slow. People have been having to take call a lot. So far, I have been lucky and have not had to use my PTO for forced call. I went home on-call today, but it was an extra shift for me anyways. I have been keeping busy by reviewing policies and re-writing some. Also totally re-vamped one and wrote a brand new one. They have to go through committee still. I am hoping things pick up soon so I can get some OT shifts to pay Jake’s medical bills and pay for the cruise that we are going on in July.
The wind is blowing like crazy and the trees are hitting the house. It’s bad enough that I am here alone (except for Molly and Peppy) but now I have to be scared that someone is banging on the walls!! Good thing my new 9 mm is loaded and ready for action should I need it!

Caley Family Update
Sam left yesterday to go to Tempe. He will be home tomorrow afternoon. The kids have actually been behaving. Since I have implemented my new “old school” discipline technique with Jake about a month ago, he has been more cooperative and doesn’t tease Erin nearly as much. Hardly at all ,actually. He earned his cell phone back yesterday. Hopefully, I won’t need to take it away again. He is also not grounded to his room anymore. I sure hope that he has learned his lesson.
I am working the next 3 days which includes an overtime shift on Monday. I am hoping it is busy enough that I will actually get to work it. I am hoping to get the cruise paid for before we actually go in July. Sam’s work is starting to pick up some. It seems he has work for a few days here and there - which is better than no work at all I guess.
The 3 rd quarter in school just finished up so the year is winding down. Tara is real busy on the JV Softball team. They had their first game last week and won 8-0. Tara was 2 nd in the batting order and scored the first run for her team! She hit the ball every time she was at bat. She has 3 games this coming week. I will get to go to 2 of them. Little League tryouts for Jake starts next weekend and continues until April 4th. I think practices start on the 6th. After that, we will be pretty busy until the season ends in June. He is the only one of the kids playing Little League this year, so i guess it won’t be as busy as in the past. At least, I hope not as busy.

It’s that time of year again!!
I am really hating this time of year. Not only is it tax time, but Little League is kicking into high gear. I hate tax time for obvious reasons, but more so this year than any other that I can remember. I am relatively certain that we are getting a refund but I still hate to see the amount that we actually end up paying when I know that it is going mostly for programs that provide for lazy people wanting a handout. I voice my opinion with my vote but it doesn’t really amount to much.
I hate the prep for Little League, not the actual season which is usually a lot of fun. I hate getting those damn First Aid Kits together and handing them out. I hate all the asses calling Sam and saying their kid is too good to play on a certain league and that the board should make an exception to the rules for their kid who is a superstar. Blah, blah, blah!! Tryouts are coming up in a few weeks. Tara is playing Softball on the JV team at school and for some reason doesn’t want to play Little League. So, this year it will only be Jake who plays Little League.
Ski season is coming to an end. Erin and I went yesterday and froze our butts off!! We were only there for a few hours because the conditions were less than optimal to say the least. The wind was crazy and not only froze us but caused snow drifts in the middle of runs. I am hoping to go again sometime this week when it’s not so windy and the runs are groomed better.
I have to get working on getting all the tax stuff together. The past two years, we have had an accountant do our taxes because of the rental, but I am going to see if I can figure it out and save the $175 fee to the accountant.
Today is Alex’s 26 th birthday !! Happy Birthday, Alex !!
